As a TechLabs mentor you make an important contribution to our unique ecosystem by sharing your knowledge with tech-enthusiastic students and supporting them in applying theoretical knowledge in hands-on projects.
So, what will you do at TechLabs Mannheim as a Mentor?
-
You will take an active part in the Project ideation phase to help the students develop their own vision
-
You will assist the students in defining a clear project vision
-
You will regularly coach your project team (5-10 students) and help them make progress with their project
-
Key data:
- You should be daily available via Slack for student's questions (usually you would answer their questions in less than 24h)
- You can set a weekly "Check-In" during the Project Phase with your mentees, either in-person or via video call, to discuss their progress, answer their questions and overall help them to overcome possible motivational or technical setbacks.
- Our next semester will start in September and the mentors usually help their teams October until January (break for exams and Christmas included).
Extra:
- We always welcome feedback on how to improve our current curriculum, so you are very welcome to help us on that
You might be a good fit if...
- You have a knowledge of Web development, Data Science or AI (you are currently studying, working or have already gained some experience in a company or agency).
- You support our mission and want to educate the next generation of students, as a volunteer
- You love to share your experience with young tech enthusiasts, and you are willing to assist them in the realization of the hands-on projects (~ 1 h / week)
- You enjoy teaching tech skills, but you are also curious and ambitious to learn new things yourself
What We Offer
- As a TechLabs Web development, Data Science or AI mentor you will be part of our ambitious tech community of volunteers, and you are welcome to participate in our regular meetings, such as lightning talks, workshops or socials, in which you might even learn something yourself
- You will get to know interesting people and you'll be able to expand your network among curious students and experienced professionals who want to make a difference
- You will experience for yourself the gratitude of your mentees: digital skills are extremely helpful in almost any profession. As a mentor you will actively help others to master these valuable skills and on top of that you will have plenty of opportunities to grow yourself

💡 As a mentor you won't be part of the management team, and therefore you don't have to become a member of the club(you don't need to pay the membership fee). You can simply help and support the techies with your knowledge and enjoy the community!
